COVID 19 RISK ASSESSMENT & ACTIONS

(Document dated 25 August 2020)

The risk is the passing on of Covid19 if you are infected/contracting Covid19

by coming into contact with the virus.

Steps to be taken to minimise the risk as much as possible.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

If you, anyone in your family, or anyone you have been in contact with, are showing symptoms or feeling unwell, PLEASE STAY AT HOME.

The timetable has been adjusted to allow enough time between classes for one class to leave before the next class arrives, to help to maintain social distancing.

You will be asked to wait outside until invited to enter the hall.

Apart from our Hop, Skip & Jump and Pre-primary classes, students will need to be dropped off and picked up at the main door; this is because we have to limit the number of people in the hall in order to maintain safe social distancing.

Hop, Skip & Jump and Pre-primary children may be accompanied by one adult – please keep in mind, we have to limit the number of people in the hall at any time. Please arrange with Ruth if you need to bring other children.  All people watching a class must remain in their allocated chair at all times and anyone

over 11 must wear a face mask/covering unless exempt.

Everyone will be asked to use hand sanitiser provided or wash their hands,

on arrival and again on departure.  If it is thought necessary, they will also be encouraged to do this at other times during the class.

The changing room will be closed.

Students should please arrive already dressed for class and only need to

change their shoes.  Please have long hair tied back.

Students should bring the minimum personal belongings possible.

Chairs will be set out a safe distance apart, and students will use

their allocated chair only.

CLEANING

Toilet and hand washing facilities will be cleaned frequently.

Floors, chairs, ballet barres and any props used will also be cleaned frequently.

The hall will be kept as well-ventilated as possible – unfortunately the windows don’t open, but there are several doors which can be opened as necessary.

DURING THE CLASS

Students will be allocated a dance place in the hall to perform their exercises.  These places will be in line with current social distancing regulations.

Travelling movements across or around the room will be arranged to comply with social distancing guidelines.

Partner/group work requiring physical contact will be limited,

according to current guidelines.

If anyone becomes unwell during class they will be isolated as much as possible whilst waiting to be collected, with any appropriate first aid being

administered as necessary.

Face masks must be worn by anyone over 11 years old when in the community hall when arriving, waiting, using toilet facilities and leaving.  It is not compulsory to wear masks whilst taking part in classes.

Teachers will keep a safe distance from students, and will wear face masks/shields if it is necessary to come close to students eg. to administer first aid.
